LEDFORD, IL – A deadly collision took place when the driver of a black 1999 Dodge Durango was killed after he crossed the center line and struck a semi truck head on. The accident occurred Tuesday morning, October 5, at about 8:00 a.m. on U.S. Highway 45 near Ledford.

The driver of the 1999 Dodge Durango who was killed was identified as Justin B. Schwartz, age 21, of Harrisburg, Illinois. Schwartz was traveling southbound on US 45, when for unknown reasons, he crossed the center line and struck head on a green 2006 northbound Freightliner Truck Tractor, driven by Brian M. Andrychowicz, age 32, of Springfield, Tennessee, according to Illinois State Police.
The crash closed U.S. Hwy. 45 south for about four hours one half mile south of Liberty Road, about four miles south of Harrisburg.
Both Schwartz and Andrychowicz were wearing their seatbelts.

Schwartz was pronounced dead at the crash scene by the Saline County Coroner’s Office. Andrychowicz was not injured and refused medical treatment at the scene.
The accident is still under investigation at this time.
