WALTON, KY – A semi truck accident that occured on Wednesday afternoon, August 11, has claimed the lives of two Ohio women. According to Local 12 News in Cincinnati, the semi crash happened around 3:45 p.m. Boone County Sheriff spokesman Tom Scheban said 53 year old Lynne Whatley of Irwin, Ohio was driving northbound when she lost control. She slid through the median and into the southbound lanes, where her car collided head-on with a southbound semi hauling masonite. The impact droved Whatley’s car back into the median.

Walton is in Boone County, Kentucky in the northern part of the state on the border with Ohio and Indiana about 24 miles south of Cincinnatti, OH and about 65 miles north of Lexington, KY.

The tractor trailer truck jack-knifed, taking out the guardrail and another semi truck hauling molasses was unable to stop in enough time resulting in a collision with the first semi.

Both Whatley and her passenger, 53 year old Debra Kleiber of Plain City, Ohio died at the scene. The driver of the masonite semi-truck, 63 year old Herbert Greene of Salisbury, North Carolina, reported minor injuries but did not go to the hospital. James Guenther, 62, of Ross was driving the truck hauling molasses. He was not hurt.
